What is Minimally-Invasive Restorative Dentistry?

At our Kyle office, minimally-invasive restorative dentistry means doing more with less. We skip the heavy drilling and focus on small, precise fixes that protect healthy tooth structure. That might mean catching tiny cavities early using AI-enhanced X-rays, placing composite white fillings that blend right in, or using tooth-colored zirconia crowns for extra strength and beauty. Our goal is to make treatment as smooth and easy as possible, so your kiddo can feel confident every step of the way.

Our Minimally-Invasive Approach

Every smile in Kyle is unique, and at Kids Tooth Team Kyle, so is our approach. We tailor every treatment to your child’s needs, using gentle, effective techniques to stop cavities early and avoid unnecessary dental work whenever possible.

Smarter X-rays with AI Technology

We’re raising the bar for pediatric care in Kyle. With Overjet AI technology, we go beyond what the eye can see—catching early signs of cavities that many traditional X-rays miss. This advanced tech helps us diagnose smarter and treat earlier, giving your child the best shot at long-term oral health.

Stopping Cavities in Their Tracks

When decay is caught early, we can often treat it without drilling. At our Kyle office, we use silver diamine fluoride (SDF) as a powerful cavity-stopping tool—especially when paired with our early detection tech. It’s quick, noninvasive, and designed to halt cavities in their tracks before they turn into something more serious.

No Drills, No Shots, Just Protection

We’re proud to bring the Hall Crown technique to families in Kyle. This minimally invasive treatment protects baby molars from further decay without any numbing, drilling, or needles. It’s a win-win: maximum protection with minimal stress.

Our Restorative Services

We offer a full suite of restorative dental treatments designed just for kids. From small fillings to more complex procedures, our Kyle team is here to help your child get back to a healthy, happy smile—comfortably and conservatively.

Resin Infiltration Treatment

Resin Infiltration Treatment

If you’ve noticed chalky white or brown patches on your child’s teeth, resin infiltration might be a great option. It’s a gentle, drill-free treatment that fills in weak enamel spots with a liquid resin that hardens into a protective barrier—smoothing out the surface and stopping cavities before they start. It’s a safe, minimally-invasive way to preserve your child’s natural teeth.

Tooth-Colored Composite Fillings

Tooth-Colored Composite Fillings

Forget the metal! We use tooth-colored composite fillings made from a durable resin that blends right in with your child’s natural enamel. These fillings not only look better—they also form a tighter seal and provide longer-lasting protection against decay.

Space Maintainers

Space Maintainers

If a baby tooth is lost too early, we may recommend a space maintainer to preserve the gap and prevent neighboring teeth from shifting. This helps ensure your child’s permanent teeth come in exactly where they should.

Nerve Treatments: Pulpotomies

Nerve Treatments: Pulpotomies

A pulpotomy helps save a baby tooth that’s been affected by deep decay. We remove the infected part of the nerve, apply a healing medicine, and place a protective crown—all in the same visit. It’s a fast, gentle way to relieve discomfort and protect the tooth until it’s ready to fall out naturally.

Nerve Treatments: Pulpectomies

Nerve Treatments: Pulpectomies

In more advanced cases, we may need to perform a pulpectomy, which involves removing all of the nerve tissue and placing a special medicine inside the tooth. This can save baby teeth that might otherwise need to be extracted. Our Kyle team is uniquely trained in this technique and happy to provide a second opinion if another provider has recommended removal.

Frenectomies

Frenectomies

Lip and tongue ties can impact everything from breastfeeding to speech. If your child is struggling with oral mobility, we offer conservative frenectomy care using the latest laser technology. We never rush into surgery—instead, we assess each case carefully and provide complimentary consults if you’re unsure whether treatment is needed.

Tooth Extractions

Tooth Extractions

Sometimes a tooth just has to come out—whether it’s damaged, infected, or getting in the way of orthodontic progress. We make extractions as easy and gentle as possible, and our doctors are trained in both routine and surgical procedures.

What is tooth decay—and how do you treat it?

Tooth decay happens when sugars and starches from food mix with bacteria in the mouth, creating acids that wear away enamel over time. Without proper brushing and flossing, this can lead to soft spots in the teeth that eventually become cavities. The earliest sign is typically a chalky white spot on the enamel. As decay progresses, that spot can turn brown or black as the cavity deepens. In its earliest stages, decay can often be reversed with fluoride treatments. But if a cavity forms, we’ll need to remove the decayed area and repair the tooth with a filling, crown, or other restoration. The earlier we catch it, the less invasive the treatment!

Does my child really need a filling if it’s “just” a baby tooth?

Yes! Even though baby teeth fall out eventually, they serve an important role in your child’s oral development. Most baby teeth are around until age 10–12, so leaving a cavity untreated can lead to serious pain, infection, or problems with spacing for adult teeth. By restoring a decayed tooth early, we can help your child avoid future dental issues—and make sure they stay comfortable and confident while chewing, speaking, and smiling. We offer a range of conservative options depending on the extent of the decay. That may include a white filling, a stainless steel or zirconia crown, or other minimally-invasive options. We’ll walk you through every recommendation so you feel informed and empowered.

How can I tell if my child needs a space maintainer?

Space maintainers are used when a baby tooth falls out too soon—whether from injury, decay, or another cause. Without that tooth in place, nearby teeth may start to shift into the gap, which can cause crowding and bite issues later on. If your child has lost a tooth early and you’re not sure whether they need a space maintainer, we’d be happy to help. Our Kyle team can take an X-ray and check your child’s development to determine whether one is necessary.

What are some signs my child may need a frenectomy?

Tongue and lip ties can show up in a variety of ways. In infants, feeding issues like trouble latching, clicking while nursing, or slow weight gain are common indicators. As kids grow, they may show signs like difficulty moving the tongue side to side, trouble eating certain foods, or speech delays. If you’re unsure whether your child has a tie that needs treatment, we recommend coming in for a consultation. Our team takes a conservative, case-by-case approach—we only recommend a frenectomy when it’s truly needed.

Why might my child need a tooth extraction?

Most kids won’t need a tooth removed if their teeth are healthy—but there are some cases where an extraction is the best choice for their smile. A tooth might need to be pulled if it’s severely decayed or damaged beyond repair, or if it’s interfering with upcoming orthodontic treatment. At Kids Tooth Team in Kyle, we always look for ways to save the tooth first with treatments like crowns or pulpotomies, and only recommend extractions when truly necessary.

Wisdom teeth are another common reason for extraction. These molars usually begin to emerge between ages 17 and 25, but many kids simply don’t have enough space in their mouths to accommodate them. If they’re impacted, growing in crooked, or causing pain, we may recommend removing them to avoid future complications.

Whether it’s a stubborn baby tooth or a problematic adult one, our team provides gentle, comfortable extractions with the help of dental sedation. If a baby tooth is removed early, we may suggest a space maintainer to guide your child’s permanent teeth into place. And if an adult tooth needs to be replaced, we’ll walk you through all the options—both now and down the road.
