Not sure how to handle a dental emergency? Follow these steps based on the situation:
For any loss of consciousness or suspected head/neck trauma:
Call 911 or go to the ER immediately. A medical team should rule out a concussion or serious injury before we assess dental concerns.
For a knocked-out or severely broken adult tooth (with visible bleeding):
Call our Buda office immediately. Your child needs to be seen within the hour. If the tooth can be saved, it may require a splint to stabilize it.
For a chipped or slightly loose adult tooth:
Still call us the same day. Even minor trauma can affect the tooth root or jawbone, so it’s best to have Dr. Alex take a look.
For a knocked-out baby tooth (with visible bleeding):
Baby teeth cannot be reinserted, but we still need to check for any root fragments left behind and determine if stitches are necessary. Call for a same-day or next-day appointment.
For a chipped or loose baby tooth:
Contact us for a same-day or next-day visit. We’ll evaluate the tooth for nerve exposure or root fractures to make sure your little one heals properly.
